10 things

A Super good read.

Here are 10 things dogs can teach us about what matters most in life:

1. Live in the moment.
Although dogs remember things like where the treats are kept, what street takes them home and who they've met before, they only access that information when they need it -- in the moment. Whether they're eating a bowl of kibble or chasing a ball, dogs live for the present moment. The past is gone; you can't do anything about it. The future is unknown. The only thing you can really enjoy and affect is the present moment.

2. Overcome fear with love.
There are plenty of stories about frightful, aggressive dogs who transformed into kind, gentle dogs after they were placed in a loving environment. Dogs can overcome their fear and insecurities through love, and so can humans. Love truly does conquer all, and the first step for us is to love ourselves. If you can replace fear and self-criticism with self-love, no matter what situation you're in, life gets easier.

3. Don't hold grudges
A grudge is a feeling of resentment toward someone. It originates in our mind. Humans are probably the only species that holds a grudge. A dog will never be angry with you because you didn't give him a treat after dinner last night. Holding a grudge weighs you down emotionally and keeps you from moving forward in life. Let grudges go and you will create your own personal freedom.

4. Play every day.
Dogs love to play, which usually involves lots of movement, whether it's running, chasing or jumping. This is a good reminder for us to play and move our bodies every day as well. Playing opens up your mind and spirit to all kinds of new ideas and creativity. It's a needed break from the constant 24/7 work environment. And if you can exercise while you play, even better. Dogs actually give you a reason to get out and go walking, hiking, running, biking or even Rollerblading. (Although, I wouldn't recommend Rollerblading if you have dogs that pull like I do. Very fun for them. Very scary for you!)

5. Jump for joy when you're happy.
Have you ever seen a dog circling around or jumping up and down at the thought of getting a treat or chasing a ball? Wouldn't it be fun if we could all jump around when we're excited about something? We live life so fast that we often forget to get excited and celebrate the good times because we're already on to the next thing. We live in a miraculous world where the sun comes up every day, flowers bloom and seasons change. There is much to jump for joy about.

6. Accept yourself.
Can you imagine a terrier wishing she were a boxer or a poodle envious of a collie's mane or a pug wanting the nose of a greyhound? We humans spend a lot of time trying to make ourselves look like someone else's version of perfection instead of loving our unique features, our unique life, and yes, our unique problems. How boring it would be if all dogs (or all humans) looked and behaved alike! Love everything about yourself -- the good, the bad and the ugly!

7. Enjoy the journey.
When dogs go for a car ride, they stick their head out the window, smell the air and feel the wind against their fur. They don't care where they're going. They're just enjoying the journey. Although goals are great to set, we often forget that it's the journey that matters most. When we get too attached to the outcome, we set ourselves up for frustration, depression or even anger if our exact expectations are not met. Next time you set a goal, be open to other possibilities and enjoy every moment of excitement, creativity, fun and lessons in the journey.

8. Drink lots of water.
Dogs instinctively know when their bodies need water. They usually stop eating when they're full, and won't eat anything that seems poisonous to them, except of course, for one of my huskies who once ate an entire platter of chocolate rum balls. Anyway... back to water. It's a good reminder for us to stay hydrated and drink when we're thirsty. In fact, drinking water when you feel hungry is good for weight management because often you just need some water. Another good practice is to drink a glass of water as soon as you wake up in the morning.

9. Be loyal and dependable.
Dogs are pack animals. They stick with their pack. They play with their pack. They defend their pack. This is a great reminder for all of us to be conscientious members of our human pack. The Golden Rule of treating others how you would like to be treated applies here. Being a loyal and dependable friend, lover, sibling, partner or parent will enrich your life in many ways.

10. Love unconditionally.
No matter what, dogs love you unconditionally. They wag their tails when they see you, no matter what mood you're in. They still want to give you big wet kisses, even if you've just yelled at them. And they instantly forgive you no matter how you behave. Loving others unconditionally is a difficult task, but it's the one that would surely make the world a better place if we all just tried.

posting about doggies a bit too often huh

My cents worth of thoughts - Twelve Nights

"The first dog in your life will teach you so many things - it introduces you to the world of dogs, teaches you the way to love a dog, teaches you how to be a good owner and a great friend"

I hardly cry when it comes to movie. I remember the last movie i cried so badly at was The Impossible. (the real life tsunami story) oh i didn't even cried at TFIOS. But twelve night's trailer was enough to make me start tearing up. Dogs are my soft spot. If you know me well enough you know i'm not a person that cry easily (people say i don't have emotions) but when it comes to the furry little ones it's a different story altogether.

I can't even bring myself to read bad news about dogs and not get mad/ upset. That's why my friends usually don't show me or talk to me about them in fear i burst into tears right before them.

Watching the videos of twelve nights made me feel so sour and heartbroken. You see the fears in the dogs' eyes. You see how defenceless they are.

"When we see stray dogs, all we think of is if they are caught, they are sent to shelters. When no one adopts them, they are euthanised. Have we forgotten dogs have feelings they feel fear too?"

I never remembered myself being so emotional when it comes to them before i had Choco. Choco taught me so many things humans won't. He taught me the proper definition of loyalty. He taught me the definition of love. He makes coming home very happy for every single one of us. Choco never fails to greet us at the door, even if it means he have to wake up at 4am because one of us returns home late. He will be up to give you licks on your face and tell you welcome home, before going back to sleep.

I've never seen another being/ animal so willing to look past flaws and be willing to trust and love all over again. This i mean abused dogs. Stories over and over again show how dogs are willing to accept the love of another person even, they are willing to trust again after they have been abandon and abused by human once.

"I used to say that the most valuable thing i've ever purchased was dreams. But now i think the most valuable thing i can purchase is hope" - Giddens Ko

If you ask me what is something i want to change in the world, that be i hope to be able to do something for them. Anything. I've received the love of a dog more than i deserve, i want to give it back.

Animals are not things. Dogs are not things. You don't get them as and when you like it then throw them aside when you feel you are done with them. They have feelings, they lead a life like us. They  What ever did dogs do that they deserve treatments like that? Nothing.

Dogs are part of our lives, but we are everything to them.

Here's the trailer to twelve nights btw.

(i don't know if what i just typed made any sense at all. i just had to get it off my chest)
I hope i'm free to catch the screening next saturday. Anyone keen to join? :)

And here is something to reflect on.

Why hello people. I haven't been on my blog since forever mainly because of the hectic school life. Past weeks been really busy rushing through our CAs. (oh yes, we have no MSTs but tons and tons of project work thrown in your face)

Thank goodness we are all done with that.

Wait before you start to say it's unfair we have no MSTs, i need to emphasise on the amount of projects (once again) due right after the holidays end. We have close to 10 due within the first three weeks i'm not even kidding. How did the seniors did it anyway.

Anyway, that aside, school has been fun and such. (i think we have the coolest lecturers btw)

Yes, before i forget to mention. I'm in CDF (Certificate in Digital Film) together with van. Pretty bad i'd say. We have been learning about film history, watching iconic films and falling asleep in class oh and having fun laughing amount ourselves. The only thing fun going to class every thurs and fri got to be the fact we get to meet the other people in CDF.  Fun people makes class thousand times more fun no?

(This post have absolutely no existence purposes) (But i'm sitting at the dining table wondering what i should do ) (i should be packing but i'm not)

I'm flying to Japan with CASS people in a bit. Not excited actually because i have no idea what's in store for us.

So till then, goodbye!

Who am I to stand in your way

Forgive me
I may have said things
That aren't exactly
The way that I feel

I told you I'd be strong
I said that I'd moved on
But it doesn't take long
To realize

That I'm not over you

But if there is somebody that makes you feel happy
Tends to your heart in the ways I'd been lacking
Then who am I who am I to stand in your way
Stand in your way
Stand in your way
Stand in your way

I know it sounds crazy
But I need you to trust me
If it's how it must be
Then I'll fade away

When it finally feels true
Do what you have to
Cause I'll never blame you
For not choosing me

But I'm not over you

If there is somebody that makes you feel happy
Tends to your heart in the ways I'd been lacking
Then who am I who am I to stand in your way
That I feel is no longer your burden
If there is someone that makes you feel perfect
Then who am I who am I to stand in your way
Stand in your way
Stand in your way
Stand in your way

Down the road someone will ask me if I know you
I'll pause for a moment I'll smile and say that I used to

Cause if there is somebody that makes you feel happy
Tends to your heart in the ways I'd been lacking
Then who am I who am I to stand in your way
That I feel is no longer your burden
If there is someone that makes you feel perfect
Then who am I who am I to stand in your way
Stand in your way
Stand in your way
Stand in your way

Universal Studios Singapore

Universal Studios Singapore

Visited Universal Studios again on a Sunday with cousin and sis! Oh and of course we had to get the season pass for $88 since it's cheaper and more worth it compared to a one day ticket. No idea when we are going again but we sure did have fun!

The shot with the globe every single time. It's a must.

Was quite packed when we arrived. We kinda expected it so it didn't really bothered us that much. Lots of tourists! First ride, Shrek coaster then canopy flyer. I made a new friend while i was on the canopy flyer. ok, actually not much, he was complaining how short the ride was and was asking if there were any other thrilling rides.

OH YA have you guys read?!? Galactic Battlestar is closing down for good and gonna be replaced with a new ride based on a movie theme. I'm excited to know about the new ride and a strong feeling it's going to be the minions. :(:(:(:(:(:(:( Why is snoopy/ harry potter not coming over?!?!?!?!?!?!

Next ride, transformers. 50mins wait. We were all starving halfway through the queue.

Of course, right after the ride, we went looking for lunch! Everywhere packed and food were expensive whoa whoa. Got mini melts to cure our hunger first. Ok now, serious question. Where did all the mini melts vending machine disappeared to?!?!?!? The last time i saw one was at lot one shoppers. But soon after it was removed too. It used to be what i would always have! :(

Before we exited, we saw Kung Fu panda walking around for meet and greet, so we immediately joined the queue. We weren't expecting to take pictures with any mascot judging from the number of people that were in the park. But we got lucky, so we were the first few in line. Yay, i love love love mascots!!!

Exited USS and had lunch over at Din Tai Feng. Not like its any cheaper but definitely shorter queue. Since we weren't going to have a lot for lunch, we shared our food.

Dumplings, Fried rice and XLB. Major huge love!

Then bumped into the minions too! oh the minions are new characters at USS! Honestly i wished the brought in other characters. Never liked the minions but i don't mind the unicorns heheh.

Taking a selfie with the mummy background.

Very sunny. My sister was talking to me asking me to take at the count of three haha but too bad.

I don't like this guy. We were standing there waiting for our turns and other tourists were all dashing towards him, he didn't even bother to stop them and let us have our turn. hmph.

First time watching water world. Thumbs thumbs up!!

Woody is so adorable. He gave me his arm to hook awwwww.

That's the end! Had fun with these girls of course. We changed into a new set of clothes because all of us were complaining how sticky and smelly and sweaty we were.

Mom and Dad treated all of us to dinner. Yay, saves the pocket. hehe

Thank you for reading.
